On Monday, Aug. 21st, all of North America will be treated to an eclipse of the Sun. WHAM students will watch most of the solar eclipse from NASA Television in their classrooms. However, each class (K-5) will have an opportunity to see the partial eclipse (Baton Rouge is not in the Path of Totality.) We have ordered solar viewing glasses (with a designated ISO 12312-2 international standard) from a vendor recommended by the American Astronomical Society (AAS). We are also in the process of securing parent volunteers and teachers to assist our students with their solar eclipse viewing, an adult will be by the side of each of our students. If you would like to share this amazing experience with your child, please indicate that you will be present for the viewing on the permission slip. Only students with signed permission slips will be able to participate in the solar eclipse viewing.
