The Louisiana Sea Grant College Program was proud to host the 22nd Annual Ocean Commotion at the LSU Pete Maravich Assembly Center on Thursday, October 24, 2019. Each year Ocean Commotion brings approximately 2,500 area students, teachers and chaperones to LSU to learn about our coast and sea from about 70 exhibitors. Our WHAM Science Lab Team served as exhibitors along with Ms. Debbie from Wild Babies Sanctuary. They did an AMAZING job!

WHAM was selected to partner with the YMCA in a School Soccer League this fall.  We have two 4th/5th grade teams participating this season.  This Saturday, October 12th, we will host the soccer games at WHAM. At 10:00 am our two WHAM teams will play each other here.  They would love to have some WHAM fans stop by to cheer them on.  There is a second game here at 12:30 between  WHAM and Capitol Elementary.  Come out, wear your WHAM shirts, and cheer for our teams!

Superintendent Drake, stopped by today and had the opportunity to release a butterfly with Ms. Clare's kindergarten class. They participate in Monarch Watch with the University of Kansas. This citizen science project requires the students to harvest caterpillars from host plants, watch the metamorphosis of the butterflies, tag the butterflies, record the data and release them. The information is used to track and gain information about monarch numbers and migration.
