WHAM 4th grade students visited the Laser Interferometer Gravitational-Wave Observatory (LIGO) which is supported by the National Science Foundation and operated by Caltech and MIT.  The Science Education Center at LIGO seeks to use cutting edge science and engineering to inspire the scientist in every visitor.  Be sure to stop by the LIGO exhibit during STEM Night at WHAM on Thursday, February 28th. 

The WHAM 3rd grade students presented African American History: A Human Timeline.  The students celebrated the accomplishments of famous African Americans, both past and present, through vignettes, song, and dance.  

Carpool is moving FAST!!!  Thank you to all parents who are following the procedures and helping to make both arrival and dismissal safe for students and staff.

Reminders:

• During both morning and afternoon carpool, we ask that parents remain in their car and proceed through the line.  
• In the morning, students should not be dropped off at the gym door prior to 8:00 am. Students should not be left unsupervised during morning carpool. Students should be dropped off by the gym where staff members are on duty to receive them. 
• In the afternoon, please do not park and enter the office to check out your child after 3:00 pm.  Carpool students not picked up by 3:40 pm will be taken to the gym for Late Carpool Pickup.

WHAM recently hosted the Block Kids Building Competition sponsored by the local chapter of the National Association of Women in the Construction Industry (NAWIC).  Twenty-five 4th and 5th grade students participated in this national program that introduces children to the construction industry.   In an effort to create awareness and promote careers in the industry, each of the students utilized 75 Lego blocks and up to three additional items to construct a project related to the construction industry.  All of the students did a phenomenal job! Congratulations to Anthony A. (1st place), Suheyla S. (2nd place), and Henry B. (3rd place).
