WHAM Kindergarten students were invited to sing the National Anthem during the LSU Lady Tiger game against Alabama.  Ms. Joy Hammatt, led the students in song and facilitated what has become a long standing tradition for the WHAM Kindergarten program.  If you missed them this time, there will be several other opportunities to support them at upcoming LSU sports events!  We would like to thank Chad Keith, at CK Photography for the AMAZING pictures! 

Magnet Schools of America's National Merit Awards program honors the top magnet schools in the United States. These awards recognize magnet schools that demonstrate commitment to high academic standards, curriculum innovation, successful desegregation and diversity efforts, and consistent delivery of high quality educational services to all stakeholders. 

 Jonas Landry, WHAM's Jump Rope for Heart representative from the American Heart Association, visited with WHAM students to kick off our Jump Rope for Heart campaign for 2018.

Last year our Heart Heroes raised over $10,000 for the American Heart Association. These donated funds are vital in order to continue the research into combating heart disease and stroke. Heart disease is the leading cause of death in America, but 80% of the risk factors are preventable. 

As part of Jump Rope for Heart your child will choose a heart-healthy message and share lifesaving tips. There is even a parent corner with tips on keeping your children healthy at home.

The collection envelope that your child has brought home is to be returned to school with all donations on March 15th. WHAM is unable to collect and secure donations before this date. A reminder will be sent home as we approach March 15th.

 Today we practiced a shelter-in-place drill with our students.  The students did well and you would be proud of them.  We practice various types of drills throughout the school year and they will continue.  Please know that your child’s safety is our first concern.

The LSU Museum of Natural Science is inviting girls in grades 4-6 to spend an evening exploring the museum collection, snacking and chatting with women scientist at LSU, and participating in fun hands-on science activities.
